CrucibleTrade Privacy Policy

Your app data

Trades, imports, notes, reviews, playbook entries, settings, and backups are stored on your device. CrucibleTrade has no account or cloud sync, and Kalman Software does not receive that information. Broker files are read locally; the app has no brokerage login or connection.

CrucibleTrade has no usage analytics or crash reporter. Deleting the app and its data folder removes its local data; Kalman Software has no server copy.

Network requests

Price downloads are optional and off until you enable them. When they are on, you choose one price source, and chart and quote requests go directly from your device to that provider only: either Yahoo Finance, or Alpaca using the API key you supplied. The other provider is not contacted. A request contains ticker symbols, an interval, and a date range, which can include several tickers at once and follows the dates you held a position, but not your fills, position size, prices, profit or loss, account balances, or notes.

Ticker profiles (sector, industry, and market cap) come from Yahoo Finance, whichever price source you choose, and only while the ticker-profiles setting is on. With Alpaca chosen and ticker profiles off, the app sends no requests to Yahoo. An Alpaca key is stored in a settings file on your device, not in your journal or its backups, and is sent only to Alpaca.

The automatic update check is on by default in the desktop app. About once a day it asks crucibletrade.com whether a newer version exists. It sends the product, app version, operating system, and whether this is the first launch. Until a first check succeeds, it also sends a random one-time code, so a retried first check is counted only once; we store a one-way hash of that code with the day, product, version and operating system, and delete it after 90 days. The code is not tied to a license, an account or your journal. We retain aggregate statistics by product, version, and operating system and do not use the request to identify or track anyone. You can turn automatic update checks off in the app's Settings → App → Updates. Microsoft Store builds use the Store's update system instead.

Buying a license

Stripe processes direct purchases. Kalman Software receives the name, email address, billing location, product, amount, and order reference needed to fulfill and support the order. We never receive or store your complete card number. License activation is verified offline.

Website and email

Cloudflare hosts this site and may process standard technical information such as IP addresses and browser information. We use cookieless aggregate analytics and count downloads. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

If you email us, we keep your address and message to answer and support you. Addresses collected through the former release-notes signup remain stored as historical records; the retired endpoint cannot add records or send email.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. Information is provided only to services needed to run the business, such as Cloudflare, Stripe, Resend, and Microsoft, or when legally required.

Your choices

You can disable price downloads, choose their provider, turn ticker profiles off, and disable automatic update checks. You may email us to ask what personal information we hold about you or request its correction or deletion, subject to purchase records we must retain for legal and accounting purposes.

Changes

If our data practices change, we will update this page and its effective date.
